Here’s mine: I’m paranoid of hitting my remote buttons in my pocket and unlocking my vehicle as I’m walking away, so just as I get out of range I usually take out my key and press the lock button again. If I don’t hear the honk I’ll walk back until I’m in range and hear it honk as it locks.

Kinja'd!!!

What’s your weird habit, Oppo?

I drive with my headlights on 24/7, I guess it's not that weird

And all the rest of us thank you for it. It sounds weird, but even in daylight headlights make a huge difference to other cars seeing you.

When I park, instead of just yanking the e-brake up, I depress the thumb button which disengages the ratchet so it doesn’t make noise. there is ZERO reason to engage the e-brake silently, but i do it anyway..

Aw, I like the ratchety noise :)

I did that in my last car that didn't have DRLs.

Sometimes I do it silently too, since I’ve been told that this does actually decrease the wear of the ratcheting tooth-thingy, leading for the e-brake mechanism to last longer. Not sure if this is true though.

When I park somewhere, I will 99% of the time back in to the space. I can't stand backing out into traffic. The only exception is when I have my mother in the car and I can't back in because I need access to her wheelchair. And then I get a tinge of anxiety when backing out, because people don't pay attention (and every accident I've ever been in in my life was in a parking lot)

I’m exactly the same way, except early 2000s Jag felt that beeping is for plebs, so instead you get one little “deet deet” and then nothing further until you lock and unlock again.

I do this too, but most of the time I try to pull through instead if I can.

Sometimes I feel lazy though

I let it ratchet, but can never, ever “yank” up hard on the ebrake. My dad would lose his shit when I would do that as a young driver in his car and it really stuck. I have to slowly set it just enough to engage (three clicks in my car) and leave it in gear.

I back into my parking garage spot, because I don’t want to get smashed backing out and no one will ever stop to let you back out.

Otherwise, though, I never ever back in. From experience as a dumb young driver, I know that it's always better to scrape the underside of the front than to tear off your exhaust.

I’ve never trusted cable e-brakes enough. so I always pull it pretty tight, and ALWAYS leave it in gear as well, even on flat road hahah.

I wasn’t always this way... Then one day I found the vehicle I was driving (2013 Fusion) had dropped all it’s windows remotely because I’d sat on the wrong buttons.

Better safe than sorry, now.

The weird thing is that I’m really fussy about having a nearly empty car, so I keep nothing of even the remotest value in my car. There’s not really anyone could take from it if I left it unlocked, so I don’t know why the thought bothers me.

ETA: Well, I do have two Swiss Army knives, so that would be a total bummer.

Whether you back into your spot or pull in nose-first, you’re still going to have to back up at some point (if you don’t get a pull-through spot).

Might as well back into the spot now, while you can still see if there’s any traffic coming. Otherwise, when it’s time to go, you’ll be stuck having to crane your neck trying to see if it’s clear.

When the car ahead of me leans over the lane marking (say, over the left edge of the lane, for example), I’ll sometimes hug the line on the opposite (right) side of the lane so that if they ever bother to look in their mirror, it will exaggerate just how off-center they are driving and hopefully they’ll get back in the lane.

Exactly. Plus, inevitably some monster SUV would park next to me and I wouldn't be able to see shit anyway (then again, I drive a Civic so it's not like the vehicle has to be THAT big to block my vision)
